About

I am a full time Wine Consultant who made his passion for wine a full-time career! In May 2019 after a successful career in pharmaceutical sales I traded my briefcase and suit for a corkscrew and casual clothes!

Wine has been a part of my life since my earliest memories of growing up! I can vividly remember my father’s wine cellar in the house where I grew up and memories of foreign holidays to wine regions with my family from Galicia to Valtellina!

A weekend supermarket job while studying sustained this interest followed by the opportunity to travel and taste many wines from around the world while travelling with work and on holidays.

Today I divide my time between working on contract as Trade Business Development Manager for specialist importers, Alpine Wines and running a wine consultancy called Tim’s Food and Wine Travels, running online and face to face wine tasting events and advising on wine tours for specialist travel agency, The Travel Design Company. I also source wine for private clients and offer a tailored wine recommendation service.

My passion for wine has taken me around the world from the Ice-wines of Niagara-on-the-Lake in Canada to the elegant cool climate Burgundian style wines of the Hemel-en-Aarde valley in South Africa and of course to most European wine regions.

My wine epiphany came in 2011 I was lucky enough to meet Ostiane Icard Trévallon of the legendary Domaine de Trévallon in Les Alpilles near St. Rémy de Provence. This was the catalyst which would eventually lead me to change career paths and leave behind corporate life for a wonderful life in wine!

I hold Wines and Spirits Education Trust Level 2 and Level 3 with Distinctions for Theory and Tasting.

I post ad hoc Blogs about wine and food on this site and and am active on Instagram under the handle @timsfoodandwinetravels . Follow me to see details of latest wine discoveries and for event information.
